Let the Ocean Come!

IMG_2674

A crab of versatility was sitting on the shore

‘Come to the sea,’ my mind pulled at its frail legs,

Dragging it deeper and deeper into the ocean

‘No way! Let me go!’ protested the crab hiding among sea shells

I am happy here. There is sun, there is water, enough food, wind – all I need is here

This place is rich with elements.

‘But, but, but – it’s shallow in here!

It’s much better to be at the deeper end of the ocean.’

The crab shrugged his claw and carried on the shallow shore,

Until… the time was right, the tidal wave came and immersed the crab in deep water

Don’t chase the depth. Let the ocean come to you when the time is right.

    • Thank you, Susan. It is certainly profound to me, because somehow I am brought up on the idea that deep and murky is good (absorbed from Russian classics in particular), and shallow is not. So, the tendency is to overcomplicate things, try to seek depth when really, shallow is great. 🙂 Oh, and the energy that chasing the ocean takes… Wouldn’t it be nice to sit back and trust that it’ll come. All by itself. When the time is right. Learning doesn’t have to be the hard way. Many thanks for commenting.

  1. 🙂 I think deep and murky is ‘good’ – the lotus flower emerges from the mud. But how nice to enjoy the lapping on the shore from time to time i.e. be versatile! As you say, don’t over complicate things! Difficult for me sometimes being sometimes still stuck in the thinking/intellectual mode!
